Street Fighter 2010 and Art-Type Stuff I'm Doin'

Mon Aug 17, 2009, 7:51 PM
Hello! I do not post journals here as much as I should, mostly because I never know what I ought to be telling people. Tonight, however, I have been inspired to tell you all of what Capcom expected Ken of Street Fighter to be doing in 2010. My sister has an NES hooked up in our room, and a few years ago, my dad bought us Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight at a pawn shop. At that point, the NES and the cartridge were in disrepair, so we never got it to work and sort of forgot about it. Tonight, however, we were discussing NES games and decided that Street Fighter 2010 needed to come out of hiding. After some vigorous pounding on the top of the NES, done in conjunction with swabbing out the cartridge, we turned it on and became engrossed in the wondrous story that is Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight.

Apparently, by the year 2010, Ken had become a scientist, working with a man named Troy, who, due to my lack of familiarity with the Street Fighter storyline, I must assume was his lover. (Hey, in the Street Fighter anime, Ryu and Ken go to a bar and pick up girls in order to wrestle with their boyfriends, so it's not as farfetched as it sounds.) Troy, however, was turned into a pile of jelly by an evil space guy or something, so Ken must avenge Troy's death by becoming a cyborg, seeing as it's been 25 years (the game's chronology, not mine), since he was king of the Street Fighter tournament and needed a bit of a tune up. I have played many a bad video game, so the story didn't faze me, especially since I stood in the doorway and read it aloud in my smarmiest voice, but I was a little confused by the fact that the game is a space themed platforming type game. It was not a fighting game or a side-scrolling brawler, but was rather a game about a robot guy jumping around and killing robot bugs. It is not the first thing I would have thought of when making an NES Street Fighter game, but, obviously, I am not of the same mindset as Capcom was in 1990. It seems like a most curious game indeed.

At any rate, if I play Street Fighter 2010, it'll be tommorrow, since I sort of played Disgaea DS for 3 hours today and my siblings are playing Base Wars on the NES right now. I have, however, been working on some stuff to post here that should be up before long. I've been trying to draw more lately, and even though I don't think all of that will get posted, I sort of want to draw a comic about the bunny girl that I drew the other day, since I think the picture's intentions were a bit misunderstood. Other than that, my drawings are just girls I made up in sort of standard outfits or video game characters. I am, however, still doing a lot of cross stitch, and have recently started one of Rock Howard, from Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves and King of Fighters, that I'm hoping will be really cool when it's done. I have tons of other stuff going, though, including piles of sprites, one of Dawn's Tokyo Mew Mew patterns, and a couple of more traditional projects. My pile of stuff I want to do is even bigger, so I don't think I'll run out any time soon. I'm also still maintaining Dork Stitch, my cross stitch patterns blog at: [link] , and am trying to post at least 2 new patterns a week!

Anyway, thank you for sticking with my journal for it's entire duration! It got a bit off topic at the end, so if it were an essay for class, I would have done quite poorly. I'm off to research the Street Fighter game I was talking about, though, and I hope that all of you have a good week!

Yeah, it does! ^^ I watched some of the old Zelda cartoon earlier and it did a lot of brain damage, but the icon is quite nifty!

Oh, you're welcome! It was really cool to see the stitch done, since I'd printed it from Little Mojo's site and gotten it half done before getting sick of the monochrome and putting it away in my supplies box. ^^; You must have so much patience to have gotten it done! Also, it was really cool of you to repost the patterns! A lot of Little Mojo's work is scattered across the web, and it's always fun to find another bit of it. I always just printed the patterns rather than saving them (and then mutilated the papers to mark my stitches), so I'm always on the lookout for them.
