X-Stitch Fanart- Ellis

Description

Hello! This cross stitch, featuring Ellis from Battle Arena Toshinden, is my entry in a Battle Arena Toshinden fan art contest for :iconfighting-games-elite:. I'd been wanting to stitch the character for quite a while, but since I don't like her sprite in the Game Boy port of the game very well, I ended up using a screenshot from the polygon based PS1 games and creating a 2D overlay before editing that to a sprite in a style closer to the Famicom pirated ports of early PS1 fighters. (I know, I know, no one cares, but I'm typing this anyway!) After that, I decided it was as good a time as any to experiment with some stitching stuff, so for the main part, in an effort to get a coloring book look, I did her outline in two strands of black floss on 18 count, so it looked very solid, then did the fill in in one strand, so it looked lighter and sketchy. For the fairy wing details on her dress, I then tried to replicate their see-through look by doing them in half stitches with glitter floss, which I like, though I'm not sure it was successful. It was worth a try, though, and I had fun doing it.

Ellis was stitched on 18-count Aida with all sorts of floss I had lying around. Most of it was DMC, but I had some generic next to me, too, so that also got used.

ADORABLE!

Although, if you're interested in the actual sprites, they did make a BAT for Game Boy.

But this looks WAY better.
