X-Stitch Sailor Moon Silhoutte by missy-tannenbaum X-Stitch Sailor Moon Silhoutte by missy-tannenbaum
Hello! I've been able to finish quite a bit of stitching in the last few days, so this is my first of two uploads for the night! I was browsing the spritestitch.com forums for patterns and found this really nifty Sailor Moon pattern by Kasura_iome, who said that it was the first pattern she'd made! I printed it right away and then stitched it over the next two days, using two variegated flosses (the effect on the white is more prominent in person) and a really thin silver thread to backstitch around Sailor Moon herself on some red violet 14-count Aida cloth. It was really fun to stitch this, and I was very pleased with how it came out, so I hope you guys like it, too!

Now I'm off to scan my second stitch of the week!

this is so cool!  and it looks great on that Aida.  I don't think I've ever seen that color before.  then again, stores around me never seem to carry more than 4 colors  >_<

This is awesome! I just dyed some aida cloth navy blue and this would go perfect on it!

Np! :aww: Glad you had fun doing it though. Most artists seem to finish their work feeling dreary and glad it's over with it, which is unfortunate :(.

that only happens to me when I do really big pieces, especially if it requires more than 10 colors.  XD

Oh, thank you, and thanks for posting the pattern, too! It only took two days to make, and I thought it was pretty enjoyable. It was quite a good design!

Wow, looks so pretty.
The moon has gradients :O How do you do those? You switch colours every row?! That must be so time-consuming :O

Well, stitching in general sounds time-consuming, but I only realized how much now...

Oh, no, no- it's not like that at all! You can buy special threads that have the different shades of yellow space dyed into them so you get the effect without the effort. XD It's really not any more difficult at all, but it makes it look a lot fancier, right? ^^;

Oh... yes, that's quite easier and smarter XD And it looks really fancy and pretty.
But I still look up to all the remaining effort ^^

This looks great. :) The variegated floss works well, particularly for the moon, and the design stands out really nicely on that fabric. ^_^

Thank you! The white variegated isn't so bad in person, but in photos, I think it ended up being a little anticlimactic. ^^;

That's annoying when a picture doesn't capture a thread colour the same way it appears in person isn't it?

It is, but I have to say I'm lucky if that's the worst thing that happens to me in a day. XD

Thank you! I don't think I'd stitched a forum-exclusive chart before, but it was really cool, and pretty easy to make, too. If I'd actually focused instead of sitting around and playing DS, I think I could have gotten her done in one day.

I know what it feels like when you take too long to stitch something!! I'm doing the aqua teens--blocks of colour and I'm totally bored of it now. Just need to finish frylock-- I made the mistake of stitching the red before the fries-- it just stands out too much right now!! LOL~~

Thank you! I hadn't stitched anything related to Sailor Moon for a long time, but the pattern was so cool that it seemed like it would be fun.

Very nice - the varigated thread works well, especially on the moon!

Thank you! I hadn't been sure of how it would work, since it was a generic variegated floss I hadn't used yet, so I was glad when it ended up being okay. ^^

Thanks! The silver floss actually ended up being sort of a pain, since it was the wrong texture, which made the back of one of my fingers really sore at the end of the whole thing. I wasn't sorry I used it here, but don't think I will again. ^^;

I really hate using metallic color threads. They hurt my fingers as well.

Thank you! When I saw the pattern, I felt very determined to stitch it, so I was glad I actually ended up doing so. With 8-count waste fabric, I think it could work well on the back of a hoodie, too!
